A commuter walking along the overpass from the MRT station to the jeepney stops

Commuting in the Philippines is notorious for the danger of getting mugged or robbed. What most people fail to appreciate is the exposure the quirks of society.

It is in the various “sakayans” and MRT stations that we see the diversity of the commuters and be amazed at how easily the various social classes interact with one another. A business man squished against a construction worker in the MRT is a common sight and though scuffles may occur they are very rare.

From my little experience in commuting I would say that it isn’t as bad as the stories say it is, every trip opens my eyes a little bit more to the ups and downs of the community.

What do you think about it?
